Spent 12 hours out on the boat today, Mostly procuring shark bait for a few trips I have in the near future. Sometimes I just cant help myself though. Tally for the day:
2 snook to 30″ while catching bait in the AM
5 King Mackerel to about 35 lbs.
3 Cudas to about 45lbs (almost 5.5ft)
2 Goliath Grouper, both about 200lbs
2 Bull sharks, 150lb/250lbs
6 Amberjack, 2 Jack crevalle all about 10-15lbs
headed home for the day and…… Nice pod of tarpon at 3pm, by 4:45pm I landed 3 to about 100lbs.
Cant call that a bad day, they certainly need to come up with a name for these type of days. I think ill go with Uberslam. The goliaths, sharks, jacks, kings and cudas all came from about 14 miles offshore. Everything except the snook were caught on 10″ anchovies that were caught on sabikis (the tarpon LOVED them). The strangest part about today was that I caught about 15 squid on my sabiki, and the squid would attack my baits and tear holes in freelined live baits. Im pretty tired, so Ill have to go into details later but I can say with 1 person on the boat I had a hell of a day.
Take care and be safe, time to hit the sack!
